Dental Cleanings
Dental cleanings are recommended twice a year to remove tartar and bacteria. Patients with gum disease may require deep cleanings called scaling and root planing; this type of cleaning helps remove the bacteria around the teeth and gums and prevents the bacteria from causing any further damage to the teeth, gums, and bone. Patients with gum disease may need more frequent maintenance cleanings to help their gums heal better and faster.
White Fillings
White fillings, also known as composite fillings, are placed to restore damaged or decayed teeth. This material is tooth-colored and blends well with the natural tooth. These fillings can be placed on both front and back teeth. The filling material is strong and can easily last for many years with proper care.
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns and bridges are permanent ceramic shells that cover teeth to protect them from damage. While crowns protect a single tooth, bridges can be used to replace one or more missing teeth in addition to protecting the teeth they are cemented onto. With proper care and dental hygiene, crowns and bridges can have lifespans measured in decades.
Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain placed on the front side of teeth. Veneers can treat stained, chipped, decayed, or crooked teeth and improve one’s confidence in their smile.
Dental Implants
Implants are artificial teeth that replace missing natural teeth. An implant is comprised of a post and a crown. The post is placed in the jaw and serves to anchor the crown. Root Canals
A root canal is a dental procedure performed to save a natural tooth. At the center of every tooth is the pulp. If there is a fracture or deep decay on a tooth, an infection can start in the pulp. This can result pain, swelling, and sensitivity of the tooth and gums. A root canal removes the infection in the pulp and allows the tooth to be saved.
Extractions
A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth due to decay or gum disease. Anesthetic is administered to ensure patients do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. Also, some patients may require the removal of wisdom teeth due to pain, infection or crowding. Pediatric Dentistry
Children will have a full set of 20 baby teeth by the age of 3. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children to have their first dental check-up when their first tooth appears and no later than their first birthday.
